Interview with Nancy McElroy conducted by Rhetta Williams Shead. Nancy McElroy earned a BFA in Design from the University of Kansas in 1972 and an MA in Dance from the University of Colorado (CU) in 1979. She worked in administration of the dance program at CU from 1979 until her retirement in 2010. She was frontline staff for student contact and worked in curriculum, scheduling, advising, and facility management/rental including serving as liaison with the Colorado Dance Festival, Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop, and Frequent Flyers. In 1994 she was one of five finalists for the statewide Peak Performance in State Government Award and in 2004 was given the CU Chancellor’s Employee of the Year Award. McElroy was a Board member for the Colorado Dance Alliance from 1985 to 1998, serving as president for four terms. Her teaching includes classes for adults in modern, ballet, jazz, and tap, and creative movement for children.
